The PEI School of Nursing |
Additional Information |
The PEI School of Nursing prepared students of nursing on Prince Edward Island between the years 1969-1994./ It was established as a result of an amalgamation of the three existing hospital schools of nursing on the island. The Prince Edward Island, the Prince County and the Charlottetown Hospital Schools. The school hosted a two plus one year diploma program. The first two years were theory correlated with clinical experience and the third year was a year of internship in which most of the students time was spent in the clinical area with the exception of one day of class every two weeks./ The school provided quality education for students during the final twenty-five years of diploma education in the province. In all, 1,099 students, 16 of which were men, graduated from the program./ The PEI School of Nursing closed its doors June 30, 1994 after 25 successful years in nursing education in Canada.
