| | Additional Information | A stole of ivory silk net; applied cotton Honiton type lace motifs at each end, as well as over the remaining ground. Net ground is embroidered with all-over, widely-spaced chain stitch point d'esprit; all edges are scalloped and finished with a scalloped Honiton lace braid, which forms a fancy heart motif with spider's web filling at each corner. At each end the corner areas are marked off with three large lace braid scallops, forming a triangle; each scallop has a rosette at its end. The right angle of the corner is marked out in plain braid that's been formed into a small loop at intervals and attached to edging with fagotting. Within each corner is a stylized tulip made of both tapes, with stem, tendrils and leaf spray created with an outline stitch, and leaves in applied small braid; flowers' centres are filled with spider's web, and each has a small lace braid rosette near flower head. The corner areas are joined by the circular motif, outlined with both braids and joined by fagotting; top of motif has two small and one large rosette with a small leaf spray; centres of large rosettes have machine-made fillings of tiny circles. In the central area above the decoration at the end is a large floral spray composed of a central applied lace braid flower, with leaves, and spider's web, and fagotting fillings. From this flower rises a central spray with three applied rosettes; leaves and buds are on embroidered stems and tendrils, and a similar spray arches over to each side. From either side of stole in this area is a spray of one applied flower-and-leaves with embroidered stems and tendrils; the remaining ground has two similar embellished areas of a leaf spray marking out each corner of a large rectangle, which is centred with an applied single flower-and-leaves spray with embroidered stems and tendrils.
