CaptionComments on this jacket
Additional InformationA jacket of black silk floral Chantilly-type machine-made lace; cut with high, round neck, pagoda sleeves; princess seams extend from the armhole in back. The lace for this jacket was apparently specifically manufactured so that this garment could be made from it ('à disposition', or 'to this shape'). The border around the neck, down the fronts, and along lower edge to the barely discernible side seams is continuous, and the motif around the armholes is not found elsewhere on the jacket. A tiny piece of narrow lack silk braid is sewn across the barely discernible shoulder seams at the neckline. (See catalogue numbers D-17307, D-17308, and D-17312, for other items of Chantilly lace.)
